报告题目:Visualization and Analysis of Urban Environments: Combing 2D and 3D GIS
内容简介:
While 2D GIS has been widely used in urban planning and many other fields, it is limited in terms of visualizing and analyzing physical objects that need to be understood in their solid forms with sensory information such as texture, shape, and size or in vertical dimensions and spatial relations such as elevation, heights, volume, and space. 3D GIS enables interactivecontrol of visual exploration and explanation of spatially referenced data by accessing accurately represented studied subjects and their properties as real world objects. 3D GIS models are especially important for planning and design activities with a focus on view assessment. This talk discusses the application of 3D GIS, in combination of 2D GIS, for the objective measures of view related features for planning and design. These discussions help us design more walkable and healthy streets and cities.
报告人简介:
Li Yin is an associate professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. She is also a member of the National Center for Geographic Information Analysis. Her research focuses on practical applications of spatial models, joining amenity and location theory with applied GIS and simulation methods to explore the complexity and dynamic processes of urban systems for environmental planning, urban design, and sustainable development. She has played a key role in several federal funded research projects totaling several million dollars, working with researchers representing various disciplines and types of organizations across Colorado, Utah, and New York.
